Roush has recently introduced the first dedicated propane-powered F-150 pickup truck that is equipped with an advanced injection liquid propane (LPI ™). The Roush F-150 LPI ™ is designed and manufactured to operate solely on propane while providing the same power, torque and handling like an F-150 equipped with a gasoline 5.4 liter, 3 valve Triton ™ V8 engine.
Roush has already started taking orders for propane F-150. And not only that, the 2007 model year truck may now be ordered, delivered and serviced through a nationwide network of distributors Ford selected.
The Roush F-150 is available in regular cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab cab styles with XL or XLT trim and the full range of lengths fund. The LPI ™ option includes dedicated lines to propane fuel, fuel tank and fuel rail assembly. The vehicle computer has been refined to ensure optimum performance and fuel economy.
The base LPI ™ option is priced at $ 6,500 and includes a one-of-a-kind ring tank mounted in place of the underbody spare tire. For customers who wish to increase the range, a gallon 50 in fuel tank bed is optional.
The F-150 LPI ™ Roush made his debut at the recent Convention and Southeast NPGA International Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. The conference was held last April 14 to 17 years and was considered one of the largest conferences the propane industry in the United States. Rail The LPI ™ fuel assembly consists of two rails machined aluminum propane injection fuel, a single cross over, a combined pressure / temperature sensor, and a service port that provides data to the computer engines "that results in more precise control of fuel at the inlet. Roush use also fuel injection systems and fuel storage provided by CleanFUEL USA and ICOM, Italy. Incidentally, LPI ™ is a registered trademark of CleanFUEL USA.
The tank toroidal fuel standard and optional in the fuel tank include a special bed High flow fuel pump, dual filters, and the required control valves needed to run the engine. The tank also contains the sender fuel and the automatic electronic filling system. The supply is through the door of fuel filling, and a stop automatic filling device that prevents overfilling. This process allows the vehicle to be filled without using the purge system that vents vapors during filling propane. Fuel is also filtered before it is made to enter the tank.
Vehicle start is controlled by a touch to offer drivers the best possible start and minimal emissions. The OEM engine control is used with calibration values unique to respond to changes in properties from gasoline to propane. The maintenance program for the F-150 LPI Roush ™ is similar to that of a schedule of regular gasoline engine only, no special oils or change intervals required. The F-150 LPI Roush ™ as any type of truck in May have its looks further enhanced by the addition of shield hood. Hood shields are the latest to add trucking accessories. A truck Shield hood is perfect for any kind of truck because it does not bend, flex, or float, even when traveling at high speeds.
PERC for short Propane Education and Research Council awarded the contract to Roush in February 2006, and Roush designed, manufactured and put the truck on the market only 14 months.
