Heater Replacement
For some reason, manufacturers of hot water heater does not encourage the owners to conduct maintenance on their heating hot water. Is because they want to buy a water heater replacement much sooner then is necessary? Just a simple bi-annual flushing can prolong the life of water heaters per year.
You need to empty your hot water at least twice a year. If you live in an area with hard water, you probably need to do more often. What is hard and soft water? Hard water is high in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, or sulphate, and fresh water did not work. A simple way to tell which type you have is how difficult it is to lather your soap or toothpaste. If you have a difficult time in their lather then you probably have hard water.
Here are some reasons to empty your tank hot water regularly.
- Flushing will save on energy costs.
- The sediments in the bottom of the tank moves the volume of your hot water, so you have less available hot water, not to mention the calcium, scale, rust, dirt, and iron in the bottom of the tank.
- The bacteria can also develop in reservoirs older and you feel sometimes or sulfur odor rotten egg.
The unit will last longer with flush water as it removes rust. In addition, the cleaning unit on a regular schedule, you'll most likely notice any rust on the outside of the tank. Rust on the outside of the tank gives warning it is time to replace the unit and prevent possible flooding of your home.
How can you delete your water heater? Measures that you take are basically the same as you have an electric water heater or gas.
- Step one: Turn off the power (hot water electric) or gas, set the temperature dial on holiday, or only driver.
- Step Two: Cut the cold water entrance of the valve. It should be near the top of the tank on the cold water line entering the tank.
- Third Step: Connect a hose to the bottom of the tank where there is a hose bib (faucet drain). Take the other end of the outside (or to a floor drain if you have one). Be sure to stay away from anything that could be damaged by dirty water coming from the tank.
Warning! The water leaves the tank is hot! Be careful!
- Step Four: Open a hot faucet located near the hot water tank. This will relieve the water pressure in the supply line and water tank allowing air into the tank for easy drainage.
- Step Five: Open the hose bib at the bottom of the tank. After the tank is cleared once, re-fill about half full and drain it again.
- Step Six: Make sure the hose bib on the bottom of the tank is closed. Disconnect the hose.
- Step Seven: Close the hot water faucet you opened earlier.
- Step Eight: Turn on the arrival of cold water in the tank. Let the tank fill.
- Step Nine: Turn your back on the power (electric) or turn the tap temp red (gas) back.
Noticed bad odors from your water? It smells like sulfur or rotten eggs? This could be bacteria inside the hot tank. A quick fix for this is to add a gallon of bleach when you empty the tank. Follow all the steps above, but after the fourth step (opening a hot water tap), you will need to unscrew the connection to cold water inlet on the top of the heater. This will be connected to what is called a nipple "and should be a flexible connector or flexible.
After disconnecting the line water, use a funnel and add a gallon of bleach, pour it into the top of the heater to the inlet. After adding bleach, completely fill the tank with water, then allowing it to set for about an hour. This should eliminate all bacteria in the tank. After letting stand for one hour, go to each fixture (bathtubs, sinks, shower, washer, etc.) and turn the hot water side and let each run for about 15 minutes. This should eliminate most of the bleach in the tank.
Be careful when you empty your hot water tank heater. Take care of your hot water heater. It will last much longer and you do save money.
