To stay cool when it is impractical, impossible or cost prohibitive to install a traditional unit of air conditioning, some people use of portable air conditioners. They are handy and easy to install. In fact, they do not even need to be installed permanently. They just need to be evacuated. Portable air conditioners are ideal for people who want to chill without having to give up window space. They are more practical than air conditioners and window are simple to use. Most have wheels or casters on the bottom that make them easy to move from part of your house to another. Money is saved because only the area you need is cooled. Portable Air Conditioners have simple configurations. There is a box-like design that holds the hot and cold walls in one. An exhaust pipe expels heat and water is extracted by condensation from the air. The resulting water is collected in a bucket to drain internally or through a drain hose. Some portable air conditioners use the evaporation technology so that little or no water is produced.
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a portable air conditioner is the BTU rating. BTU stands for British thermal unit, a unit of energy used to power the steam and heating and air conditioning industries. BTU rating describes the power and cooling capacity. It measures the heat an air conditioner can remove a room. The higher the value, the more air conditioning. BTU ratings typically range from 5,000 to 30,000 and the size needed depends on the surface to cool.
Your air conditioner portable cooling efficiency can be affected by poor BTU value. If a higher value higher than the size of the room the same device switch on and off too quickly and does not properly remove the moisture air. When it cycles on one foot like that, energy is wasted, the electricity bills are increased and the whole is tense. Also, there is a chance that the camera can freeze but many units are equipped with an automatic shutoff switch that operates when the unit is too cold. If the BTU rating is less than the size of the corresponding room, the room will not be sufficiently cooled
Portable air conditioners work only when the appropriate size for these simple steps to keep in mind when you choose a unit:
- Measure the size of a room by multiplying length by width. You'll need about 30 BTUs per square foot of space.
- Check the size of the window opening.
- For each person over two in a room add 600 BTUs. Each person at rest add about 230 BTUs for a room at the time.
- To cool kitchen or other rooms with great heat, add 4000 BTU. Also, if you live in a very hot climate, you'll probably need a portable air conditioner that emits more BTUs per hour
